As a first generation Nigerian American, Walt Grizzly is blazing a path that is all his own. Like most immigrant families, Walt’s parents were forced to work multiple jobs in order to provide the type of life they wanted for their kids. With the knowledge that nothing in this life comes easy and that you have to be willing to sacrifice everything to make your dreams come true, Walt committed his life to the creative arts from the tender age of 10. Starting off writing short stories, poems and love letters during recess, Walt quickly developed into a prolific wordsmith.
As he transitioned into making music, others quickly took notice. With an uncanny ability to synthesize a seemingly endless combination of verbs and adjectives into coherent rhythmic dissertations on themes such as heartbreak, oppression, and suffering, Walt is going where few have gone before. Producing a genre of music, which can be described as “alternative hip-hop,” Walt is always looking for new inspiration. Whether walking the streets surrounding his downtown Los Angeles home or hitting a new-age art gallery opening out in Hollywood, he is always searching to be inspired. His disparate style combines seemingly innocent visual and auditory cues to create thoughtful, motivating music the likes of which we have never seen. As he continues on his quest to total artistic domination, Walt hopes to be able to inspire the next-generation of thinkers to pierce that corporate veil and be mentally-free.
Having had collaborated with artists and labels as diverse as Buygore and Firepower Records, the music world is anxiously waiting to see what he will get into next.
